about

FraGILe's audiophile Debut Album first released in 2004

"Audiophile Pop CD of the Month"
(German Magazine "Audio" 04/2004)

".... It’s great to hear such well-known tunes stripped down to their essence this way, simply rendered by acoustic instruments and free from over-production. Listening to this recording is much like listening to a set in a club, right down to the „farewell song“ at the end of the set: Abgesang – My Funny Valentine.
Album highlights include three songs by Sting, including Fragile and Roxanne, both of which include lyrical solos from Betz. The album also features Elton John’s Sorry Seems To Be The Hardest Word, and The Doors‘ Light My Fire. Lady Marmalde has a strong finish showcasing Woisetschläger’s powerful voice over bluesy licks on the bass. Two tunes one wouldn’t expect to see occupying the same liner notes are Que Sera, Sera (given an interesting and unusual bluesy feel) and Crazy (Seal, not Patsy Cline). However, the unusual juxtaposition of musical eras works because the duo succeed making each song their own. The only track on the album without vocals is the Woisetschläger/Betz original, Tri 4/6, an attractive track both for its compositional merit and for Woisetschläger’s fine piano technique......"
(Magazine Double Bassist Summer Issue 2004)
